English Debate Team of SEMESRA had the opportunity to participate in the first Korea Schools Open held in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul, South Korea from 19 - 22 June 2015.
The team consisted of Aimannur, Nawal and Aqqil as debaters while Amalyn as an adjudicator. The school team went against schools which were very impressive in their analytical thinking and debate style. The team tried their very best to give the best debate but unfortunately they were unable to go for the break.
Nevertheless, the team was able to gain a lot of experience especially when it comes to topics and ways to prepare themselves for future debate tournaments. They were able to exchange ideas on how to analyse debate topics given and how to improve their performance as debaters.
The team also had the opportunity to savour and experience the unique and interesting culture of Korea.
It has been an eye-opener trip for the team and hopefully with this international exposure, the team will double their effort so that they will continuously do well in their debate competitions.
